For Financial Professionals
Learn more about our process and how we can add value for your clients
We believe in taking a team based approach to estate planning. We work closely with other financial professionals, including Certified Financial Planners, Certified Public Accountants, financial consultants, investment advisors, insurance professionals, and tax professionals to design and implement an estate plan that best meets the clients needs and goals. We practice this team-based approach because we believe it best serves the client, and that everyone involved can do their part better when the lines of communication are open.
We take a holistic, long-term approach to estate planning.
It starts when our client first contacts us, when we ask them to fill out a questionnaire. This questionnaire not only asks about their assets and family, but also asks them about their motivations for doing estate planning, what their concerns and fears are, and what they hope to accomplish.
Next, we have an initial consultation with the client. At this meeting, we get to know them and their family, and they get to know us. We review their questionnaire with them and learn about what is driving their need to do estate planning. We then discuss our process and fees, and, if they are comfortable and ready to move forward, they sign a fee agreement. In most cases, we then move on to the design stage in the same meeting (although sometimes this is scheduled for a separate meeting). We design their estate plan, and then review it with them to show how it will address the needs and goals they’ve identified.
We then move on to the drafting and implementation stage. At this point, we will be in contact with advisors as necessary to create the plan that has been designed with the client.
We will then have a signing meeting with the client. During this meeting and before anything is signed, we go step by step through the plan the clients are putting in place, so that they have a thorough understanding of what we are doing.
Next, we work with the client, their financial advisors, or both to ensure funding of their plan. We assist the client during this process and communicate fully with everyone necessary to have assets retitled and beneficiary designations updated.
We believe in establishing a lifelong relationship with our clients, and so we then maintain regular contact with the client, offering regular reviews of their plan and to ask about any major life events.
We would love the opportunity to get to know more about you and your practice.
We are happy to work with you and tailor our approach to complement and work with your existing processes. We are also available for co-marketing efforts, including doing workshops for your clients.
